For this purpose the taper pins have been provided with a thread of M10. –Loosen and remove all the screws 5 and 3 (Fig. ’B’). –Loosen all screws 4 to the upper part of cylinder 1 and pull them out as far as possible. 99.7063 1371251414316217761011 B 2115 Axial Detuner: Dismantling and Assembling 1999  RTA58T-B Maintenance 3146–1/A1 3 Wärtsilä NSD Switzerland Ltd Removal of the upper part of cylinder  –Fasten roller support 94310 to the face of thefree end of the engine as shown in Fig. ’C’. –Screw the two eye bolts ’R’ into the upper partof cylinder 1, then join these by means ofshackles and steel rope 94309 to a liftingtackle. –Using lifting tackle carefully raise upper partof cylinder . Make absolutely sure that the up-per part of cylinder slides out of the sealrings 6 and 7 without jamming , as other-wise the seal rings risk being damaged. The sealing rings can then be turnedout of their grooves in the lower part of cylinder 2without any problems. Checking the throttling valve When overhauling the axial detuner check also thecondition of throttling valve 10. The spindle positionhas been locked by locking screw 12 and a lockingplate. Changing the position of the throttlingvalve is forbidden. For pre-setting the spindle 11 has to be turned backby about four turns starting from the closed position.This adjustment must be verified on the basis ofvibration measurements during sea trial; otherwisethe spindle must be readjusted. The final adjustmenthas to be engraved on the name plate fitted to theupper part of the cylinder 1. 99.7050 DE 11131211 X  Should it become necessary to unscrew or replace a spindle for any reason, then the distance ’x’ must be measuredfirst (Fig. E’). The spindle has to be adjusted to the same distance on reassembling.The spindle must not be turned back by more than 17 ½ turns , that corresponds to a stroke ofx=35 mm.When the above check brings to light any defect of throttling valve 10 then diaphragms 13 screwed into the throttlingvalve must also be checked for possible damage and replaced if necessary.The engine must not be operated with the spindle removed!
