You can check the NIC vendor Web site for these updates. ã For systems with client based firewalls, verify that the firewall clients are Vista Compatible. Upgrade thefirewall software to the latest version. Or, if you are not actively using the client, uninstall it prior to installingSonicWALL GVC. Note : Norton Internet Security can cause compatibility problems during installation. If it is not currently inuse, it is recommended that you uninstall Norton before installing SonicWALL GVC. ã SonicWALL GVC encounters run time conflicts when it co-exists with any 3 rd party IPsec VPN clients.Uninstall all IPsec VPN clients prior to installing SonicWALL GVC. NOTE : The installer requires that you remove previous versions of SonicWALL GVC before upgrading toSonicWALL Global VPN Client 4.2.6. For instructions, see the Upgrading Instructions section on page 3. Platform Compatibility Windows Clients: All 32-bit versions of Microsoft Windows are supported by SonicWALL GVC 4.2.6 32-Bit, including: ã Windows 7 ã Vista ã Windows XP NOTE : The SonicWALL GVC 4.2.6 32-Bit release is not compatible with 64-bit operating systems. SonicWALL Appliances: The SonicWALL GVC 4.2.6 32-Bit release supports the following SonicWALL appliance platforms: ã NSA E-Class series ã NSA series ã TZ series ã PRO series ã TELE series ã SOHO series ã GX series  SonicWALL Firmware: The SonicWALL GVC 4.2.6 32-Bit release is compatible with the following firmware releases: ã SonicOS Enhanced 5.2.0.1, 5.1.0.8, 4.0.1.3, 4.0.0.12, 4.0.0.5, 3.4.0.0, 3.2.3.0 and all previous versionsdown to 2.0.0.2 ã SonicOS Standard 3.9.0.1, 3.1.5.0, and all previous versions down to 2.0.0.2 ã SonicOS 1.0.0.2 or higher ã Versions 6.4.2.0, 6.5.0.4, and 6.6.0.x New Features The following new features are supported in the SonicWALL GVC 4.2.6 32-Bit release: ã Support for Windows 7 ã New Log Viewer user interface ã New Certificate manager user interface ã New Connection properties user interface ã Main Application menu, log viewer menu and options available in the menu are changed. (New icons in themenu for both) ã New Virtual Adapter ã Latest Version of DNE ã Installation of SonicWALL GVC 4.2.6 32-bit with an MSI Installer instead of InstallShield Installer2  Upgrading Instructions If you are upgrading SonicWALL Global VPN Client from an earlier version to version 4.2.6, you must uninstall theearlier version before installing Global VPN Client 4.2.6. However, when uninstalling the older version, you canretain the configuration settings to facilitate the migration.To upgrade, or migrate, to SonicWALL Global VPN Client 4.2.6, perform the following steps:1. Download SonicWALL Global VPN Client 4.2.6 to your computer fromwww.mysonicwall.com.2. On the Windows Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs .3. In the Add or Remove Programs window, select the older version of SonicWALL Global VPN Client andthen click the Change/Remove button.4. The InstallShield Wizard launches and displays the Confirm File Deletion dialog box. Click OK .5. In the InstallShield Wizard window, select the Retain MAC Address checkbox and then click Next .Do not select Delete all individual user profiles (in some versions of Windows this option is called Deleteall setting and configuration files ).6. The InstallShield Wizard removes the application and then displays the Uninstall Complete page. Torestart your computer immediately, select the Yes, I want to restart my computer now checkbox. Torestart later, select the No, I will restart my computer later checkbox. Click Finish .7. Restart your computer and log in.8. Double-click GVCSetup32.exe to begin installation of SonicWALL Global VPN Client 4.2.6.For more information about the installation procedure, see the SonicWALL Global VPN Client 4.2 Getting Started Guide  , available at:http://www.sonicwall.com/us/Support.html 3  Known Issues The following is a known issue in the SonicWALL GVC 4.2.6 32-Bit release: Connectivity Features Symptom Condition / Workaround IssueSonicWALL GVC users may not have access tocertain secondary networks.Occurs when there is a coincidental, partialoverlap between the IP subnets used on theirlocal network and the destination network.77895 Resolved Issues The following issues are resolved in the SonicWALL GVC 4.2.6 32-Bit release: DHCP Relay Symptom Condition / Workaround IssueSonicWALL GVC goes into an infinite loop whenattempting to connect.Occurs when the Virtual Adapter is set to a staticIP address and GVC attempts to connect to aSonicWALL UTM appliance whose VPN policy isset to DHCP only.65409 Multiple Connections Symptom Condition / Workaround IssueThe LAN Settings > Next Hop IP Address is notadhered to by SonicWALL GVC. GVC does notuse the correct default route configured via theuse of specific NEXT HOP gateway. Instead, italways uses the default route with the lowestmetric.Occurs when there are multiple default routes andthe NEXT HOP gateway route is not the one withthe lowest metric.76785 Suspend/Hibernate Symptom Condition / Workaround IssueOn Vista only, SonicWALL GVC users may seethe error message “Virtual Adapter can not befound” and the GVC connection is disabled.Occurs when the GVC connection is set to enablewhen waking up from sleep or hibernation.50323 Vulnerability Symptom Condition / Workaround IssueUnprivileged users can obtain local systemprivileges, possibly allowing them to control theaffected system. Occurs due to a privilege escalation vulnerability. 460414
